Episode 53: American Name: Now Apocalymon Japanese Name: The Final Dark Digimon

The ground crumbles beneath group and they fall into a void.  After a while, their decent is stopped and Genai contacts them via Izzy’s computer to tells them that there is one more Digimon to fight, the evil Apocalymon.  Gennai’s transmission fades out and Apocalymon appears in front of the group.  After a long exchange of words between the kids and Apocalymon, he attacks several members of the group with attacks from Digimon the group has fought in the past.  He attacks Mimi with Myotismon’s Crimson Lightning, but Lillymon jumps in the way and takes the brunt of the blast.  After this outburst, Apocalymon sends out claws to ensnare each of the Digimon, and then uses his Reverse-Digivolve technique to change the Digimon back into their rookie forms (champion form in the case of Gatomon).  He then destroys the kid’s crests and proceeds to destroy the group.  The group is reduced to “bits” and must do some soul-searching.   They come to the realization that they did not need the crests and their power had always been inside of them.   Armed with this knowledge, the digimon are able to evolve back up to their Ulitmate and Mega forms.  The group then rematerializes in front of Apocalymon, ready to fight.
